INTERCONNECTION MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION                                        Posted:  December 1, 2019

SunEast Development LLC, a major developer of utility-scale solar PV projects in the eastern U.S., seeks an experienced Interconnection Manager to be based out of our Malvern, PA or Old Saybrook, CT office. This motivated candidate will manage our various interconnection consultants and engineers in matters relating to the interconnection process, from pre-applications and feasibility studies through execution of Interconnection Agreements for SunEast’s portfolio of utility-scale solar projects in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States.

 

The candidate should possess 3+ years’ experience managing the interconnection of large-scale renewable energy power facilities, with experience in the PJM, NYISO and ISO-NE markets.  Skills required for success in this position include effective communications, the ability to develop strong working relationships, a focus on detail, effective problem-solving ability, excellent project management, and in-depth knowledge of power market fundamentals.


Responsibilities:

  • Act a primary point of contact for independent system operators, transmission service providers and all interconnection activities.

  • Manage and track the SunEast project portfolio of interconnection related studies, applications, and follow-up requirements.

  • Identify optimal strategy for project interconnection to the grid based on system impacts and assessing grid capacity; develop best plan for interconnection.

  • Oversee our interconnection consultant’s work, including modeling, due diligence, interconnection analysis including evaluating available capacity for transmission lines and substations and estimate timing and costs.

  • Oversee utility interconnection studies to ensure milestones are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.

  • Develop interconnection schedules; achieve milestones on time and on budget.

  • Work with the Development team to identify issues that could impact site selection.

  • Manage work requirements of external resources to maintain accuracy and timeliness.

  • Provide interconnection information for bid proposals.

  • Travel within the U.S. as necessary.

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in managing the interconnection process for renewable energy projects, preferably PV solar generation.

  • Detailed knowledge of the eastern-U.S. energy markets, with a focus on NYISO, ISO-NE, and PJM markets.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • Master’s degree a plus.

  • Strong communication and relationship building skills.

  • Effective problem solving and decision-making skills.

  • Good multi-tasking and ability to manage multiple projects/tasks.

  • Ability to travel within the U.S.

 

SunEast will offer the successful candidate a competitive salary, incentive bonus, and attractive benefits package.  This position reports directly to the Vice President of Development.  Compensation and job title to be determined based on the selected candidate’s background and experience.

Founded in 2012, SunEast Development LLC is a privately held clean energy development company with offices in Old Saybrook, CT and Malvern, PA.  SunEast is managing the development of over 800 MWs of solar projects in ten states.  SunEast manages the full spectrum of the solar development process including strategic site assessment, land origination, project design, interconnection, permitting, offtake contracting, and site engineering for solar projects ranging from 2 MWs to 80 MWs in the New York ISO, ISO New England and the PJM Interconnection markets.

 

In November 2018, SunEast Development LLC announced the closing of a development capital raise from a private equity fund managed by New Energy Capital Partners, LLC. The capital funding will support the continued development of a 105 MWac solar portfolio acquired by SunEast in June 2018, and further accelerate the company’s solar development and acquisition efforts in the eastern United States with a target portfolio of over 1,000 MW by 2021.
